納骨

A place to think of loved ones and offer prayers in quiet moments.

Four reasons why Senkoji Temple was chosen

納骨堂

A new form of burial: the "columbarium"

Indoor columbariums, where cremated remains are stored, are becoming increasingly popular due to modern lifestyles. Temples will respectfully take custody of the remains and perform memorial services.

霊園

A cemetery surrounded by hydrangeas.

Within the hydrangea garden lies a lush, green cemetery. Recently renovated, it's easy for anyone to walk around when visiting graves, making it a great place for families to visit.

地蔵

A heartfelt Soto Zen funeral

At Senkoji Temple, funerals are conducted according to the rituals of the Soto Zen sect. We consult with the head priest in advance and conduct the memorial service with care to ensure it is a meaningful ceremony for the bereaved family and the deceased.

あじさい

We offer consultations on various Buddhist rituals.

Please feel free to consult us about any concerns or questions you may have regarding funerals, cemeteries, or interment. We will take the time to talk with you carefully and help ensure that your family can find peace of mind.

本堂

Due to declining birth rates and changing lifestyles, attitudes towards graves and memorial services are also changing. At Senkoji Temple, we offer "perpetual memorial services," where the temple takes full responsibility for the memorial services and management. We value memorial services that are tailored to the individual wishes of each person, providing a place where you can offer your prayers with peace of mind for generations to come.

Columbarium

Senkoji Temple will carefully protect the remains.

The columbarium is adjacent to the main hall, providing a peaceful environment for visits at any time. Its design is similar to a Buddhist altar, allowing you to offer items the deceased enjoyed and to pray individually before the main image or memorial tablet.

霊園

Senkoji Cemetery

A place where your family can gather together.

A grave is an important place where family and relatives pay their respects to their ancestors. This cemetery is well-maintained and offers a peaceful environment where families can visit and remember their loved ones in tranquil surroundings.

紫陽花

We have received many positive comments from our customers.

I've always wanted to build a grave at a historic temple. It's well-maintained and easy to care for the grave.

(50s/female)

I was glad that the columbarium is divided by family, so I could pay my respects to my family anytime.

(40s/male)

This was my first time entrusting a funeral to a temple, but the head priest listened carefully to what we had to say, and we were able to conduct the funeral with peace of mind.

Ryūgozan Senkōji Temple

Founded in 1192 by Eisai, the founder of the Rinzai school, it is one of the oldest Zen temples. It is now a Soto Zen temple. Although it is a historical Zen temple, in recent years it has also become known as the "hydrangea temple." In June, during the rainy season, approximately 7,000 hydrangea bushes bloom.
