This temple is a historic Zen temple said to have been founded by Zen Master Eisai (the founder of the Rinzai school of Zen Buddhism in Japan). It is also known as the 25th temple on the Chikugo Thirty-Three Kannon Pilgrimage and has long been a place of worship for the local people. Stepping through the temple gate, you will find yourself in a tranquility that makes you forget the hustle and bustle of the city, and in a space of prayer that has been preserved by our ancestors.

Hydrangeas in early summer

With approximately 10,000 plants filling the temple grounds, one of the largest collections in western Japan, the entire slope is transformed into a gradient of colors, creating a harmonious blend of the tranquility of the rainy season and the splendor of the blossoms. You can experience a serene and extraordinary space.

The quiet temple grounds in autumn

In autumn, a gentle sunlight and a tranquil atmosphere envelop the temple grounds.

The opportunity to spend time quietly, while feeling the changing seasons, is one of the unique charms of autumn. Many people visit this place to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life and find peace of mind.
